The management of the Forest Management Unit (KPH) Malang is under the direction of the East Java Regional Division, which is administratively located in two regencies, Malang and Kediri Regencies and one Batu City Government. The forest area is 90,360.80 ha, consisting of 46,195.90 ha of production forest and 44,164.90 ha of protected forest.

KPH Malang has a forest area boundary consisting of a border with KPH Pasuruan in the north, KPH Probolinggo in the east, the Indian Ocean in the south, and KPH Blitar and KPH Kediri in the west.
The forest area of KPH Malang and its surroundings has a tropical climate characterized by alternating rainy and dry seasons throughout the year. Located at an altitude of 0 – 3,676 m above sea level, with a climate type between types A to E, according to Schmidt & Ferguson. The environment with this type of climate is very suitable for planting teak and jungle stands. The average temperature is 31o C, and the average rainfall is 1226.4 mm/year.
KPH Malang area is located at an altitude of 0 – 3,676 meters above sea level. Only a small part of the field topography is situated on a plain with a flat to gentle slope; most of the area is on a rather steep, steep and very steep level.
The management of the KPH Malang forest area is divided into two sub-units of forest management (SKPH), SKPH – West Malang and SKPH – East Malang, which consists of 4 (four) Forest Sections (BH), 8 Forest Management Units (BKPH) and 33 Forest Management Resorts (RPH). For the sake of planning, the KPH Malang forest area is grouped into 4 (four) forest sections (BH):
Meanwhile, according to the work areas division, KPH Malang is divided into 2 Sub Units of Forest Management (SKPH), SKPH West Malang and SKPH East Malang. Each SKPH is divided into Forest Management Units (BKPH). (See: KPH Map).
