The Central Java Regional Division is one of the Perum Perhutani’s work units, which manages 635,858 hectares of forest area or 19.5% of Central Java Province (3.2 million hectares).
The division of forest area based on its function consists of Production Forest covering an area of 367,720.88 Ha (58%), Limited Production Forest covering an area of184,034.41 Ha (29%), and Protected Forest covering an area of 84,175.32 Ha (13%).
Based on the division of Company Class (KP), the Central Java Regional Division consists of 5 KPs: KP Jati (Teak) covering an area of 342,089 Ha (53.80%), KP Pinus (Pine) covering an area of 238,256.89 Ha (37.47%), KP Damar (Agathis Dammara) covering an area of 28,157.71 Ha (4.43%), KP Mahoni (Mahogany) with an area of 11,274.39 Ha (1.77%) and KP Mangrove with an area of 16,079.89 Ha (2.53%).
The Central Java Regional Division working area is divided into 20 (twenty) Forest Management Units (KPH) with 148 Forest Management Units (BKPH) and 589 Forest Management Resorts (RPH), 4 Regional Forest Planning Sections (PHW), 2 Independent Business Units (KBM), 4 Gondorukem and Turpentine (PGT) factories, 1 Gondorukem Turpentine Derivative Factory (PDGT), 1 Eucalyptus Oil Factory (PMKP), and 1 Timber Industry (IK PMU).
Production management in the Central Java Regional Division includes timber (Teak, Pine, Damar, Mahogany, Sonokeling, et cetera), non-timber (pine sap, eucalyptus leaves, resin/copal), agroforestry (corn, rice, coffee, sugar cane, cloves, rubber) and ecotourism development.
In carrying out forest management, Perum Perhutani adheres to the principles of Sustainable Forest Management (PHL), a forest management that ensures the sustainability of forest resources’ functions and benefits by considering the sustainability of economic, social and environmental functions in a balanced way.
The Central Java Regional Division received an Environmental Conservation Forest Management (PHPL) certificate, valid until 17 May 2021, in addition to 4 KPHs in the Central Java Regional Division as FM-FSC certificate holders, namely KPH Cepu, KPH Randublatung, KPH Kebonharjo, and KPH Kendal.
Perhutani involves community participation in forest management. The Central Java Regional Division collaborated with 1,934 Forest Village Community Institutions (LMDH) and contributed through the Partnership and Community Development Program, sharing the production of forest resources and employment of forest village communities.
